Bruce Springsteen dazzled an Asbury Park club audience on Saturday (2/25) with a surprise set at a benefit show honoring his former trainer Tony Strollo, who died unexpectedly earlier this month.
The show had been established as a fundraiser for Strollo's wife and two young daughters and was to be headlined by Jersey shore regulars Boccigalupe and the Bad Boys, with whom Springsteen has been known to sit in.
Strollo, reportedly 40 at the time of his passing, was listed as 'Trainer' in the tour program for Springsteen's 2008-2009 "Magic" tour.
Twitter reports of Springsteen's appearance at the show began showing up late Saturday, with a few photos of Springsteen performing alone with an acoustic guitar and with a band on electric guitar following shortly thereafter.
Local singer-songwriter Quincy Mumford tweeted "Bruce Springsteen just played my guitar, pretty dope."
According to early Twitter reports, Springsteen performed six songs with Boccigalupe and the Bad Boys.
